PT Tallo Kembar Australindo is a Jakarta based business that provides on-the-ground support to businesses that are yet to have a presence in Indonesia, and recognise the need to be close to their customers, partners and decision makers.
Indonesia is a wonderful country with so many opportunities, yet it is very difficult to develop, maintain and build on those relationships from afar.
Our services go beyond market research and business matching and include in-market representation and business development.
Our capability lies in more than 30 years’ experience across the private and public sectors in Australia and the Asia Pacific.
- Market entry strategy and development
- Partner identification
- Business visit support and coordination
We were born out of a generational love affair between our two countries – Tallo is the West Timorese family name of our founder Ika, while Kembar refers to the twins in our families and the union of our two cultures. The colours in our logo are found in the Australian flag and West Timorese ikat, or traditional woven material.
Masa lalu saya adalah milik saya. Masa lalu kamu adalah milik kamu. Tapi, masa depan adalah milik kita.

About Us
Ben first moved to Indonesia in 1993, where he spent six years working at a large Indonesian law firm and then for a golf course design company.
The experience instilled in him an interest in international business, working and living overseas, and a love for Indonesia and its people. Upon returning to Sydney as a newlywed (with Ika Tallo), Ben worked for lubrication equipment manufacturer Macnaught whilst undertaking an M.Comm in International Business at UNSW. Following this, in 2004, he embarked on an international trade career with the Australian Trade Commission, which had him doing client facing export advising roles in Sydney and Adelaide, trade policy in Canberra (including a stint in the Prime Minister’s Office), and Trade Commissioner roles at the embassies in Jakarta and Bangkok.
In 2018, Ben returned to Jakarta to take on the Queensland Government’s Trade and Investment Commissioner role for 5 years, in which he led a team to drive trade and investment between Queensland and Indonesia, and foster closer relations with sister province Central Java.
Outside work, Ben is Vice President of the Indonesia Australia Business Council and President of the Jakarta Bintangs Australian Football Club. And most importantly, he and Ika are proud parents of teenage twins.

Ika was born and bred in Jakarta and is of Timorese descent. Her dad was from Rote Island and her mum was from Kupang in East Nusa Tenggara, and the two of them moved to Jakarta in 1969 when her dad joined the marines.
After completing a Business Degree from Satya Wacana Christian University in Salatiga, Ika first began her relationship with Australia working with Australian company PT Thiess Contractors Indonesia.
She moved to Australia in 1999 and after almost 20 years returned home with her family in 2018.
In addition to her role with PT Tallo Kembar Australindo, her baking business @sweetnsalty_by_ika makes the yummiest Australian treats found in Jakarta – lamingtons, Anzac biscuits, pavlovas and cupcakes.
Ika is fluent in English and she and Ben are proud parents to teenage twins, Lulu and Alfie.
